Following their motto, ‘We build where we sell’, Honda expands US operations. More than 99% of the Honda and Acura vehicles sold in the U.S. last year were manufactured in North America, the highest rate of any international automaker. Honda has maintained a local auto production rate of 75% or higher for 16 years.
Honda operates 14 US R&D facilities, including 4 in Ohio. Within the US, they manufacture in 12 plants, employ 29,500 and carry a $2.2 billion payroll. Their newest U.S. manufacturing plant opened in Marysville, Ohio in 2016.
In addition, Honda Aircraft Company is ramping up production in their North Carolina facility. Their Greensboro headquarters serves as the home for all HondaJet research, product engineering, sales and marketing, and service support. Honda Aircraft Company employs more than 1,000 employees.
